Surveys, Service, and Installation FAQ's
Surveys
- When do you need to do surveys?
- If we are installing one of the following appliances for you, before installation or purchase, we will come out for a free survey to take measurements, so that we can order the proper unit, and to make sure that everything is o.k. for the day of install.
- Inserts
- Fireplaces
- Gas logs in unusual circumstances
- If we are not installing an appliance for you, we do not need to come out and do a survey for the aforementioned appliances. Measurements and installation are the responsibility of the installer. Even if we are not installing an appliance, we can still sell and order anything for you or your contractor.

- What is a "Service?"
- When we service the below appliances, we come out and clean and refresh your unit and perform a safety check. This usually costs $100-$150, depending on the unit, not including any parts if any are needed
- What information do I need to have when having an appliance serviced?
- We need to know what your appliance is, its make, and its model. You can find this information in the paperwork which came with the unit, or on the unit's rating plates (see general help: the first tab in the FAQ tab) This is so that we can determine if we can service your unit and that, if we service it, whether or not we can get parts if we need them.
- When should my heating appliance (gas log, insert, fireplace, etc.) be serviced/cleaned/safety checked?
- It is recommended that these appliances are serviced at least once a year during the fall. This is so that any issues are caught and can be resolved before Winter and so that you are sure your unit works when winter comes around.
- Can grills be serviced?
- For grills, we can almost always come out and clean your grill and determine if it needs any parts. If it needs parts we will need the make and model of the grill.
- If grills are maintained well throughout there life, they can last a very long time and may not need to be cleaned by us at all.
- Rarely, we may condemn a grill. This means that a grill is in such poor shape that it should not be used without serious work (similar to totaling a car).
- Do you do installs?
- We will install all of what we sell and most of anything we do not. We use a chimney sweep for wood appliance installation and a contractor, who deals exclusively with us, for everything else.
