Pellet Stove FAQ's, Help, and Tutorials

We carry Quadrafire, Heatilator EcoChoice, and Ravelli Pellet Stoves

Pellet stoves are very similar to pellet inserts, but they are free-standing and tipically sit on a stove board to protect the floor.  They use pellets composed of compressed saw dust as a fuel with blowing air assisting the burn.  Pellets are middle-of-the-road in terms of authenticity (if authentic is wood burning) and maintenance work required: you are burning solid fuel like in a a wood fire, and can occasionally smell that you are, but the trade-off for lack of authenticity is also a lack of work required to maintain the unit.  It is recommend that you vacuum the ashes out before a day of use, but you don't have to carry messy wood into the house or clean out a whole wood fireplace.

There no longer exist pellet fireplaces.

Pellet stoves vent up piping through a wall or the ceiling in which the stove is situated.

Pellet stoves heat a room using radiant heat and fan assisted convection.
