Vented Gas Log FAQ's, Help, and Tutorials
We carry White Mountain Hearth, and Ventis Vented Gas Logs
All Gas Logs are made up of two separate pieces: the burner, and the decorative ceramic or cement logs which sit on top of the burner.
We will not install Gas Logs in a bedroom and it is required that Gas Logs be installed in either an existing wood fireplace, which can safely burn wood, or in a vent-free firebox.
Gas Logs are more for decoration, but they do provide some heat. In terms of decoration, size of flame, and realism, Vented Gas Logs are your best bet: Vented Gas Logs tend to look very realistic. Exhaust from these, including heated air and the warm exhaust gases, are vented through your chimney leaving only radiant heat as a source of heating. Vented Gas Logs can result in a draft.
It is recommended by the manufacturers that logs are cleaned and the burners are serviced once per year by a certified service person. Delaying this cleaning for too long can result in a build-up of dust and other debris in the fireplace which can result in an unsafe burn.
Gas Logs can range anywhere from $1000 to $2500, all considered, depending on gas-line and complexity and features of the burner.
